promoted the Bible through music and the performing arts.
It was dissolved on January 1, 2009, but this website remains as a means
for interested persons to access, listen to and download our songs for free.
The songs on this website were recorded from June 1997 to December 2008
at Hope Studio (Lionel's garage) in Garden Grove, California.

MESSENGER PROJECT HISTORY

In 1996, Messenger Project founder Lionel De Leon began composing songs from the
Bible. The following year, musicians Tom Alderman, Fletcher Perkins, Skip Hahn and
Raymond Genovese, all long time friends, joined the project after hearing a demo. They
began recording tracks in his Garden Grove garage-studio and Messenger was formed.
Tom Alderman left the band after the first CD was recorded. In 2001, the band created
a nonprofit corporation, Messenger Project. Fletcher Perkins and Skip Hahn left during the
recording of our sixth CD. Bart Broadnax and Joie De Leon were the newest members of
the band. Bart played bass and sang, Joie added vocals and was Secretary of Messenger Project.
Lyrics were taken directly from the NIV Bible, King James Bible and spanish Santa Biblia.
Lionel and Joie moved to Hurley, New Mexico in February 2009.
